No Bakes
Do you remember when I found out that The Grand Lunar's favorite dessert-snack was brownies from a box? An astoundingly simple way to make him happy!
I'm pretty sure I asked him, at the time, if there were any other "childhood memories that make me happy" and he couldn't think of any, but I recently discovered another: no bake cookies.
We were at a dessert going-away party at church and he came back with a plate of cookies and exclaimed, as if he'd discovered gold (or a free iPod nano), "Look, no bake cookies!"
I've tried to make these once before. I did something wrong and they were sort of soupy, never really set up right.
I guess I'll try again. If I can find a foolproof no bake recipe (and they're supposed to be foolproof, aren't they?) he'll be happy, and I'll be happy to be able to make him happy.
Happy happy. Joy joy.
From a simple No Bake.
They are *supposed* to be fool-proof, but I have made one or two goopy batches myself. Just make sure you boil them long enough, and don't try making them on a humid August afternoon.
Actually, I have a nobake story of my own. :-) My gramma was the only person I knew who made them, but I didn't know what they were called. When Timothy was born, my friend made a big container of them and brought them to us. It was kind of like getting a hug from my gramma (okay, it sounds a little weird...me and my food issues! LOL)
Anyway, then I knew what they were called so then I could learn to make them. If your dh likes the nobakes without PB, I can give you my recipe. Let me know. :-)
mmm, no bakes! I've made goopy batches too. I think I remember saving one by nuking it and stirring in quick oats...
Steve's favorite, too.
