I'm a tree! A tree!
Found this on Becky's blog.

Actually, I have at least 4 trees on my tree. Is that goofy? I had no idea.

Also, way back when I first reported the mold thing, several of you asked to see pictures of the completed tree. I wasn't ignoring you, so much as I was ignoring finishing the tree. In fact, it's still not done, I need to grace it with the box of Star Trek Ornaments. And the red sproingies. Christmas decor is a little frustrating for me because I don't really get it. I mean, I like it and it makes the house feel Christmasy, but I don't *decorate* well. I wish I had a little touch of Christmas in each room, but I don't really know how to, and where would I store all that stuff the rest of the time?
ANnnnnnyway, here's the mostly-but-not-quite-finished-tree:

This year I added the puffy garland, which I bought when I thought we'd lose most of our homemade ornaments. But we really lost very few.
Oh, we also did a craft yesterday! I'm not much for a crafty mom. Maybe because I'm an artsy snob. But mostly because I'm never organized and tidy enough to deal with the mess crafts make. I often find the process frustrating and not warm and cozy like I imagine in my head. But this one was fairly easy, no one glued themselves to the table. Aren't they cute?

Maybe we'll do another craft. Someday.
Adorable snowmen! I LOVE snowmen! My Christmas ornaments are almost all snowmen because we can leave them up well past Christmas!
I also don't like crafty stuff. It makes such a mess and someone is always upset about how their item turns out. Then there's the throwing out problem. with five children, we don't have room to store ALL the crafts EVERYONE makes. They fuss and holler when it's time to dispose of their creations as if I were killing their little children.
But we have done several this year and they have really enjoyed it. And the mess was able to be cleaned up eventually!
Posted by: Peggy at December 20, 2006 9:26 AMWay to go, Kim. THREE trees on your tree. I'm a tree too. I do love Christmas. I love the snowmen you made, too. Those are pretty crafty!
Thanks for always being there for me with a comment, I appreciate you! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Those snowmen are adorable!
We did a craft this year too. I'm terribly proud of myself. :-D
Posted by: Rosanne at December 20, 2006 1:08 PMI love your craftiness! I'm also jealous of your tree. :)
I did your quiz you listed....I am a "bow" and I don't like that answer! I like Christmas for more than the presents..(walks away mumbling).....
Posted by: Christina at December 20, 2006 1:54 PMI'm a snowflake, but the quiz didn't have the best answers for me to choose from, so I just had to pick.
Do tell, where did you find your craft project? I used to be hugely crafty when we were in a house. I mean, kid crafty. I loved to set up art projects.
Your tree is absolutely beautiful!
Posted by: Liliana at December 20, 2006 3:20 PMHey, thanks everyone! :)
Liliana, we did these when my oldest were 2 and 3.5 or so at a Mommy & Me outing. Every year when I pull them out I think "we should do this again". We just made them from memory, but here are directions
Maybe I'll surf around for some more easy crafts. I like to have the kids' work as decor.
:)
Posted by: Kim at December 20, 2006 3:44 PMHey Kim,
Cute tree! I'm an angel :). But we knew that already, didn't we. Lol!
Posted by: Barbie at December 20, 2006 5:40 PMWell, I'm a bow, too, Christina, but that's alright! I really do tend to live in the present, so this fits me.
Kim, I love your tree! Christmas trees aren't about being decorator perfect--it's all about the memories, and your's looks like it could tell some stories about your family.
Your little snowmen are adorable, too. I bet the kids had a great time making them with you.
Posted by: Theresa at December 20, 2006 6:31 PMYour snowpeople are cute! And your tree is pretty too.
Posted by: Shari at December 20, 2006 7:00 PMI love LOVE love the snowmen!! Your dishes behind them are BEEautiful!
Your tree is gorgeous, dahling, just gorgeous. :)
I'm getting ready to cut out some aprons to sew up. I forget if I've asked you if you like aprons or not...
Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday, Robin
Posted by: Robin at December 20, 2006 8:01 PMI have several trees on my tree, too - felt, Fimo, salt clay and Perler - although I have always laughed about the idea that I'm using a tree to decorate a tree. It is silly when you think about it. Maybe the next tree I make will have tiny tree ornaments on it, that would be funny :o)
Posted by: kelly at December 20, 2006 10:44 PMoh yeah, and cute sock people! Way to go on the craft! :o)
Posted by: kelly at December 20, 2006 10:45 PMYour tree is so cute. I love the hat on the top! I've never seen that before.
I have a soft spot for snowmen myself...they are so cozy-looking. Except that real snowmen are made of snow, which is in fact quite cold. *looks at fingernails* What was I saying? =P
Oh, the hat at the top. Ha ha. That's a funny thing. Because I threw it up there because we don't have a star or angel. Some years we've put the children's paper plate angel up there, but it topples off. And this year, since I didn't finish decorating when I had the stool out to do the lights? I never brought the stool BACK. So the ornaments only reach as high as I can reach. So ... the top looked pretty bare. And Tobi-wan won that hat at as a door prize, so we put it on the tree. But we don't "do" Santa here, so I'm a little embarrassed to have the hat there. But it covers the bare top. LOL!
