Oh my goodness, I broke myself

or something.

I was in bed around 5:30 this morning, not doing anything but lying there on my back, sleeping. And I felt a little pop, or crack. And then my back hurt, up between my shoulder blades, and I couldn't lay on my back or right side without it hurting. When I got up it hurt when I moved certain ways, so I was doing that stiff-robot walk, turning my whole upper body instead of just my head, etc.

I thought if I could stretch it out, it might pop back. So I stretched and felt a pop. But it didn't feel any better, and I soon discovered it was worse. Now I have even less range of motion, and when I move and it hurts it spasms or cramps up or something, I don't know what but it really hurts. It only hurts a little if I sit reallllly still, but since The Grand Lunar and the Big Two are off to church, it's up to me to take care of littles, including squirmy ones who want to be picked up and don't get "don't wiggle, it hurts me."

So. I don't really know what to do. I took an acetaminophen, I hope that helps.

I guess I better try to eat something, too, keep the low grade oogies at bay.

Ice for the first 24 hours. Rest with ice on your back for 20 minutes every hour if you can. Reading time? Try really hard not to do the stiff robot walk because it will put stress on the muscles around it and you'll get mega-sore which will make you hurt more and walk stranger, etc. Vicious circle. The sooner you get to a chiropractor the better. If you wait too long your body will start adjusting to its new state, pulling more and more out of alignment. I'll be praying!

ditto Peggy and see a chiropractor. :)

The Pain In The Back Lizness

Oh no! Not a broken Kim - can't have that. Nope nope nope. So I'm praying for a quick quick quick recovery. Also praying that the oogies will be kept at bay.

What types of things are you/have you been eating for protein?

Hugs & love to you dear Kim! *big grins* Have a super rest of your Sunday.

ouch! unfortunately all acetaminophen does is block the pain. Can you take ibuprofen in first trimester? I can't remember... Ibuprofen relaxes muscles, which might help things pop back into place.

My family doctor is a DO (doctor of osteopathy) and he will sometimes do chiropractor type stuff - popped my friend's hip in during pregnancy, has fixed another friend's back/neck. Neither of them needs constant 'fixing'... So I'm not quite as suspicious of the whole thing as I used to be. Dr. T. says that the more often you get 'adjusted' the more likely you are to pop in and out... but on the other hand the longer you leave your bones 'wrong', the more harm you can do. Hope you can find someone you trust to help you, if you need it... don't let it go on too long. :o/

Ouch! I'm sorry you're broke. I hope it gets fixed soon. That's weird about the "pop" thing. And all that on top of the oogies, yuck. (((( )))

What a week for back pain! I think it's a case of the Februaries! Remember "Office Space" and "a case of the Mondays?" hee hee. I had an excruciating low back pain for a full week, which has finally gone away. I went for a massage this morning, but should have done that a week ago. My friend Rob was walking his ailing dog two days ago on his deck when his back just "popped" and he couldn't move at all for many hours. Uck. I think mine was caused by walking so cautiously on the ice and negotiating the snowplow banks. And the bitter cold. All these things made me walk with tensed up muscles. Get the Grand Lunar to at least give you a back rub with some analgesic oil every day till it is better. And feel better really fast. xoxoxoxo

I echo the massage. When I pulled a muscle in my hip, only massage made me able to walk like a normal person. Have the Grand Lunar slather on some mineral ice stuff and massage the area. I have a thumper vibrating massaging thing that would probably help if you want it.

thanks, everyone! I've decided to forego the chiropractor, as things seem to be getting better ... this gives me an excuse NOT to play in the snow, too, ha hah!

Staci, I'm so sorry you did the same thing. Doesn't it stink? Especially not to have DONE anything except sleep! It seems so unfair!
