New Socks, Two Socks
New Socks. Two Socks.
Whose Socks? Noodlesocks.
Who sees who sew whose new socks, sir?
You see Kim sewed Noodles socks, sir.

As you can see, I finally got them done. It's hard to tell, but I think #2 might be slightly shorter than #1, I found it very difficult to get them the same, and I think #1 had been slightly stretched out by the tryings on and such. Eminoodle is very hard on socks, she seems to wear holes in things almost immediately. So I'm wondering how long all that effort will last.
But she likes them.

I will get started on my crazy striped sock yarn for myself, next. Although all the little boys are clamoring for socks of their own. I am looking forward to trying smaller needles, thinner yarn, and more stitches for a more polished look. Hopefully.
I was so sad, all along I had wanted to join the Green Sock Knit-Along, which has such a cute graphic - here, I may as well steal it and use it, it's such a nice graphic. Only the link no longer goes anywhere. I'll link it to what it was linked to, so you can see for yourself. If it moved, I never found it.

Anyway, earlier this year I read about the green sock knit-along on Wool Winder's site, and that's when I decided I would try sock knitting. And so I have. My green socks, my very first socks, are complete. Amen.
** edited to add info on the pattern & yarn:
I used this pattern: The Super Simple Knitwit Sock Pattern
I used Caron Simply Soft Brites in Lime green ~ a thin worsted weight (I'm a little confused on all that, it SAYS worsted weight, but it seemed thinner than average to me) and size 3 (3.25 mm) needles.

Posted by: Peggy at April 7, 2007 9:03 AMI love them!
Posted by: Chris at April 7, 2007 10:04 AMI am astounded, amazed and impressed!! My poor sock #2 is sitting, lonely, waiting, waiting for me to return and finish it. I have had soooo many other projects going that have stolen my time and affections (Historical Ball, projects for my secret pal, etc). I guess I am quite the tart when it comes to needlework projects! (I have seen other knitters use harsher terms than "tart" but I shan't compare myself to a lady of the evening...even in regards to my fiber flirting)
So, tell me. What yarn did you use? Needle size? pattern? You must include such details!
Posted by: BusyHSmom at April 7, 2007 1:12 PMOh didn't I say all that? LOL!!!
I used this pattern: The Super Simple Knitwit Sock Pattern
It's made for adult feet (I believe) with worsted weight yarn and size 4 or 5 needs (3.75 or 4 mm) ... But I used a thin worsted weight (I'm a little confused on all that, it SAYS worsted weight, but it was thinner than average) and size 3 needles. It starts with 40 stitches, and I've determined that for my *sock* yarn and my fatter foot I should probably do 60 stitches instead ...
I used Caron Simply Soft Brites in Lime green.
As a first-time-ever sock knitter, I liked the simplicity of the pattern, and the flexibility to pick my own ribbing (I did k3p1) but the heel flap and gusset turned out a little weird. I think it's because it said to make the flap 2.5 inches long and then pick up only 10 stitches, (there were about 16 rows of flap) and I think that made the heel flap curl around, so the 'turn' was past where it should be? I'm going to wing it more on my next one, or find another 'simple' pattern to try.
I liked how fast it knitted up, (besides my OWN dawdling between knit-times) but I think I'd prefer the look of a finer yarn and more stitches. Maybe even smaller needles. I did buy some Paton's sock yarn for MY socks.
I've seen some awful harsh knitting language, too! :-O what's that all about? LOL!!!
Posted by: Kim at April 7, 2007 1:30 PMNice socks!
Would you believe that I read Fox in Socks for the very first time just this week? How did I manage to avoid that Seuss for all these years?
Posted by: Rosanne at April 7, 2007 2:22 PMYour socks are cute!
I just finished catching up on your blogs. You've been busy! I think having a once a year yard sale to be able to give things to is a good thing. And it happening in spring is especially good. It goes along with spring cleaning. I always thought that my decluttering efforts should result in fewer give-aways each time, or that meant that I was over-buying. I'm kind of envious that you have a deadline to meet. I don't and therefore there's so end point. Oh, and I'm a cleanie that can't keep up with the demands. LOL!
Your date with Eminoodle sounded fun. Indoor pools are always over chlorinated. Ugh! But kids don't seem to mind and I think it's sweet that you braved the chemicals and made it fun.
So update us on your decluttering.
