See me walkin ... walkin' out the door
... not really out the door. That's just the song, singing.
Actually, just in the living room. Mostly in one place. The place where the area rug is getting worn thin.
... believe me ... gonna make it, make it ...
Would I lie to you?
Yeah, so I'm walking again.
I was inspired to post about it reading Rosanne and Daisy's blogs. Those exercise Canadians! They're inspiring!
I did so well the first half of last year.
Then fell off the wagon and got run over. Then I kept trying to get up and chase the wagon. But couldn't get back on. That was discouraging.
But I'm back on now.
A little concerned that I won't STAY on. So I've been hesitant to post or make "goals" ... I tend to do well when I'm doing well, and not be able to get back to going if I stop for some reason.
But I'm up to 29 miles so far this month, and enjoying it so far. I'd really like to be someone who walks for the rest of their lives. But for now, I'll just try to take it day by day, week by week.
Walkin, walkin' ...
How about you?
Posted by Kim at January 11, 2008 11:42 AMRight now I'm sitting in front of a computer, reading a blog about you walking. Does that count?
Posted by: Dale at January 11, 2008 1:04 PMOh you are walking again! That's great Kim! And 29 miles is EXCELLENT! I have to take it day by day too. Every thing within me rejects the joy of exercising, yet it's something thats very needful right now. We'll have to encourage each other on. It feels SO good when I'm finished though. They I accomplished some great feat of something. And it seems my energy during the day has increased a little bit too.

Oh Wow! I posted twice, sorry about that. And my spelling is awful. Blush, blush! I'm typing too fast!

Posted by: Daisy at January 11, 2008 2:02 PMi have been toying with the idea of walking too. i think it would be interesting to get one of those leg thingies that tell you how far you have walked.
also, i have enjoyed catching up on your blog. you make me smile :D
Posted by: karencze at January 11, 2008 3:58 PMSpeaking of doing really well at the beginning of something...how is the organization/decluttering project coming? You haven't mentioned anything about it for awhile. Is it all done? Seventy-five percent done?

Posted by: Betsy at January 11, 2008 4:16 PMI have great plans to start walking, if I can just figure out when to do it. I wanted to walk around my neighborhood, but the children would want to come with me, and then I would spend most of my time trying to keep Lucas from petting every dog in the neighborhood and keep them all from getting run over by the speeding teenagers. I think I'm just going to lock myself in my room with the walking tapes...and hope that Lucas doesn't put anything else in my oven while I'm in there. Sigh.
Posted by: Leigh at January 11, 2008 4:59 PMWalking hurts too much right now. LOL When baby comes, I will do some walking...I...umm....promise?
Posted by: Beckster at January 11, 2008 8:14 PMHello dear Kim! :) Yea - you're walking! Guess what? I started on January 1st and am using WATP like crazy! One of the girlies at a time does one of the walks with me. We started with one mile every other day for a few days. Then, we moved up to two miles. I have so many two mile WATP that we alternate and don't have to do a repeat for a week or more. We do them every day. I made myself a challenge. To do WATP every day for a month, except when my husband is home off of the road.
I am glad to finally be motivated again after not doing realllly well since last April or so. I know you can do it and I look forward to hearing your progress. :) Hugs, Robin
Posted by: Robin at January 11, 2008 10:24 PMI read yesterday that in his 33 years, Jesus walked an approximate 21,000 miles. The earth is only 25,000 odd miles around at the equator! Wow. That averages out to about 635 miles a year, or 1.7 miles per day. I can't do 5 miles a day, but I can work up to 1.7 or even 2, I think.
Of course, this is all conjecture. January 3 I blew out the knee and haven't walked fifteen steps other than to the bathroom and back to the chair again since.
But one day...
Posted by: Peggy at January 12, 2008 12:41 PMOh, good job! And I know JUST the person to keep you accountable. :-D
