Is it worth the time, is it worth the price ...

Whew, I got the 2nd coat of paint done in the bedroom. It makes for a long day, when painting more or less takes all day.I did take a little nap during the "paint drying" phase.

Deep thought: Starting a 2nd coat is like knitting the 2nd sock. It needs to be done, but it's much less exciting, starting over for the 2nd round.

Painting is kind of a mixed bag for me. I don't mind painting, but it is a lot of effort. I find myself trapped between really wanting it done WELL and not having the time and patience to be as careful as I guess I should be. Especially when working in an almost 70 year old room that's been badly done before. It's hard to be meticulous about not having drips when you're painting over 68 years of other people's drips, blurbs, and bad plaster patches.

I do like the thrill of the change, as well as the money saving and proud feeling of having done it myself.

But sometimes when I look at the places I blorped an uneven edge along the ceiling, after trying hard to be careful, much less when I'm nursing an aching back and have worked hard all day with furniture still to haul back in, I can certainly see the appeal of hiring the job out.

So I'm glad I'm doing the bedroom, I think it will be a very nice change. Will it inspire me to ditch the ugly pink hallway with yellow feathered glaze? Or tackle scraping down the obnoxious wall borders and wall paper in other parts of the house? You'll have to wait and see.

Coming up tomorrow (or Friday) ... finishing the room by painting the trim.

THEN you can see pix.

Awesome! Painting is such great excercise. Can I come paint, too. I need more exercise. LOL I'm picturing this room you've painted with green/yellow walls and blue trim. I'm sure that's not the color, but it's the first color I imagined when I read this. :)

RYC: LOL I'm picky about having my oven clean. It just makes me crazy to have the whole kitchen clean and oven not. I can just hear it talking to me, calling out about how dirty it is when the rest of the kitchen is clean. So, it's not like I clean it often, but I make sure that we are verrry careful when putting things in and then taking them out. I have no problem with others dirty ovens, though. LOL

Have a super Wednesday, hugs, Robin

Every pregnant woman needs a worry-wort friend to fuss over your every move, so I might as well be the one. :-) Are you sure this painting is a good idea right now? Are you ventilating the room well as you work? Did I REALLY hear you say you were going to haul furniture back in, or did you mean to say that you were going to delegate that job to family members?!?

Love you and worry about you...

Oooo! I love painting! But I do tend to get bored with it sometimes, especially in the warmer weather. I'm much more diligent about it in the wintertime. Presently, we're painting the big girls' room. Dark peach (is there such a color? It's called Begonia, I think) with a lighter peach ragged on top (that one really is peach - it's called Provincial Peach. Doesn't that make it sound like a really important color?). I've done a lot of painting this year - my room in two shades of brown (one dark wall, the rest two shades lighter, so technically tan), the hallway two greens, kitchen red and bathroom two blues. I'm very, very happy with it all so far. I never realized how freeing it would be to get away from white. Bleh. I don't think I'll ever paint anything that again.

So yeah, I'm feeling a bit long-winded tonight, huh? I think I'm in that "talk a lot and fast because I'm so tired that if I stop for even a millisecond then I'll fall asleep" stage. Bedtime ... i guess. I'd much rather sleep all day and crochet all night. Now that sounds really fun!

I always paint when I'm pregnant too. It is the only time I paint. Maybe I need to change that!

I hate painting. Ben just colored our walls in the kitchen, but there is no way in the world I'm going to repaint. LOL!
